A trending video has shown a terrifying moment when a fun lover took a picture of an elephant in a zoo, and the animal went after him. The report indicated that the man became the target of the zoo animal because he used a flash while taking its picture.

The victim, who was said to be a tourist, had moved to snap a picture with the elephant, but was severely injured when the wild animal trampled on him and stripped him to reveal his bare behind for beasts and bears to witness.

Indian authority speaks on zoo accident

According to the New York Post, authorities have referred to the incident as a reckless and dangerous stunt. The incident reportedly happened at a temple in Karnataka in India, on Sunday, August 10.

The moment was said to have been captured by other visitors who had visited the wildlife reserve. The video had gone viral and sparked global outrage and warnings about animal-human relationships.

The tourist, who was identified as R. Basavaraju, was said to have trespassed into the restricted forest area when he came in contact with the wild elephant. According to witnesses, Basavaraju was trying to take a selfie with the animal, which was by the roadside, eating carrots at the time.

Tourist injured by wildlife in an Indian forest

While the massive mammal gave chase, Basavaraju was seen trying to flee but fell and his face-first into the busy road tarmac. The elephant caught up with Basavaraju in just seconds and stomped on him repeatedly, horrifying the onlookers as it terrified Basavaraju.

At some point, the attack by the elephant was forceful when it tore off the trousers and underwear of the man; it was a bum-mer to see.

After the terrifying episode, the massive mammal then hovered over the injured Basavaraju briefly and then trotted away into the forest. This was when the man escaped. Miraculously, the tourist survived the attack but sustained injuries.

After the incident, he was fined 25,000 rupees (around $285) by local forest authorities because he trespassed and provoked wildlife. They also asked him to record a confession video, where he admitted that his actions were a result of his lack of knowledge about wildlife safety rules.
