UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has revealed that she 'rejected God' after questioning why her seemingly trivial prayers were answered while the desperate pleas of a woman held captive for over two decades went unheard.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC on Thursday, August 7, Mrs Badenoch recalled how her faith crumbled when she read about the case of Josef Fritzl, the Austrian man who imprisoned his daughter for 24 years in an underground cellar.

“I couldn’t stop reading this story. I read her account, how she prayed every day to be rescued. And I thought, I was praying for all sorts of stupid things, and I was getting my prayers answered," she said.
Kemi Badenoch: Questions over answered prayers
Mrs Badenoch described the contrast as deeply unsettling, saying:
“I was praying to have good grades, for my hair to grow longer, and for the bus to arrive on time so I wouldn’t miss something.
"Why were those prayers answered, and not this woman’s? It was like someone blew out a candle,” she explained.
As reported by Independent, despite this loss of faith in God, she said she still considers herself a “cultural Christian,” adding, “I rejected God, not Christianity.”
Anecdote from school years
The Tory leader also recounted a school memory in which she reported a classmate for cheating in an exam, but received no praise for doing so.
Mrs Badenoch also said her tenure as Conservative leader was going “well”, adding her job was to “make sure that people can see that we are the only party on the centre-right”, The Telegraph reported.

In an apparent dig at Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, she said:
“There are pretenders. We’re the only party on the centre-right, and we’re the only ones who still believe in values like living within our means, personal responsibility, making sure that the government is not getting involved in everything so it can focus on the things it needs to look at, like securing our borders.”
Mrs Badenoch, 45, recently sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians after publicly stating that she no longer identifies as Nigerian.
