Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army which was established in 1956, is the land warfare branch of the Nigerian Armed Forces, tasked with defending national sovereignty, maintaining territorial integrity, and supporting internal security.

Headquartered in Abuja, it evolved from the Royal West African Frontier Force. With thousands of active personnel, it operates under the Chief of Army Staff.

The Army engages in counter-terrorism against Boko Haram, banditry suppression, and peacekeeping missions across Africa.

It has faced criticism for human rights abuses, including excessive force, but has implemented reforms.

Key operations include Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Crocodile Smile. The Army also supports disaster response and civic duties.

Its motto, "Victory is from God alone," reflects its ethos. They have several training centres, and the Nigerian Defence Academy ensures readiness.
