Chief of Army Staff: List of Likely Successors to Attahiru Emerge

- Names of generals that will likely succeed late Attahiru has been revealed

- The generals include Ali-Keffi, Ben Ahanotu, Ibrahim Manu Yusuf among others

- Meanwhile, the presidency is yet to issue any statement as regards the successor

As Nigerians continue to mourn the death of the Chief of Army Chief, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru and other military officers in a plane crash and at the same time await the name of his successor, Legit.ng has compiled names of senior military officers that could be appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to a report by PR Nigeria, here are the officers that may likely be named by the president.

1. Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi - General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna

Unconfirmed reports claimed that Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi may be appointed but a security was reported to have said that Ali-Keffi has more than 30 senior major general above him in seniority and ih his chosen, that means they will be forced to retire.

2. Major General Ben Ahanotu from Anambra State - Chief of Policy and Plan.

3. Major General AM Aliyu from Gombe state - Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army and former Director Foreign Liaison at the Defence Intelligence Agency.

4. Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf from Yobe state - Chief of Operation and former Force Commander Multinational Joint Taskforce (MNJTF).

5. Major General Faruk Yahaya from Zamfara state - Current Theatre Commander Operation in the North-East.

Recall that Legit.ng reported that as Nigerians continue to mourn the death of General Ibrahim it became a tale of two tales as some governors and government functionaries were present at the burial of the departed officers while others chose to honour the living by celebrating with Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice on the wedding of his son.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called for an investigation into the recent military plane crash that claimed the life of Attahiru and other military officers.

The spokesperson for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the demand in a statement via Facebook on Saturday, May 22.

Ologbondiyan stated that there was also a need to probe the two other crashes which occurred few months ago. The party said it is grieved about the death of General Attahiru, and the other personnel.
