The prestigious award, which is backed by UEFA and France Football, only issues the statuette as a symbol of prestige. There are claims that the trophy is not made of pure gold, and the value is just around 3,000 euros.
However, winning it has a huge impact as clubs often offer bonuses and incentives to their award-winning players, per GOAL.

2025 Ballon d'Or top 10 leaked?
Meanwhile, barely 48 hours before the event, a supposedly leaked list claiming to reveal the top 10 finishers went viral across social media.
The unconfirmed list, which was shared, had Barcelona’s Raphinha at the top with 800 points, a tally higher than Lionel Messi’s winning totals in 2023.
