Esther Okoronkwo seems to have transferred her form at the Super Eagles to her club side in the United States of America.

The left-footed player gave a good account of herself with AFC Toronto by scoring a stunning free kick.

Okoronkwo repaid the trust coach Justine Madugu had in her during the 13th Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The AFC Toronto led the comeback against Morocco in the final, scoring the first goal through the spotkick in the 64th minute and providing two assists for Folashade Ijamilusi nd Jennier Echegini to beat host Morocco 3-2 at the Stade Olympique in Rabat. Okoronkwo was named Player of the Match for her sterling performance.

The 28-year-old also scored one and provided two assists in the quarterfinal as the Super Falcons routed Zambia.

Okoronkwo was part of the four Super Falcons players named in the CAF Team of the Tournament before proceeding to be crowned the Super Falcons’ Fans’ Player of the Tournament at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Okoronkwo scored two goals

Esther Okoronkwo stole the spotlight with her 5th-minute incredible free kick against Vancouver on Saturday evening, September 13.

In a viral video, the California-born player took the free kick at the edge of the penalty spot.

The Super Falcons player scored her brace in the 66th minute, as the game ended 7-0, ending Vancouver's eight-match unbeaten run.

According to The Star, Toronto's other goals came from Kaylee Hunter, who scored a brace to bring her season total to 12, along with Kaela Hansen, Sarah Stratigakis, and Jade Kovacevic, who netted her first of the year.

The win was Toronto’s biggest of the season and keeps them at the top of the standings. They have also become the first team to qualify for the playoffs, per Aclsports.

Okocha dismisses carrying Okoronkwo in viral picture

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian legend Jay Jay Okocha has reacted to claims that he carried eight-year-old Esther Okoronkwo on his shoulders at the Reebok Stadium in 2005.
