The 28-year-old was brought in to strengthen the Spanish club’s attacking options but failed to make the desired impact.

Iheanacho did not feature in any of Sevilla’s opening three La Liga matches this season and was consistently left out of the matchday squad.

The news of the Nigerian forward’s contract termination was confirmed in a short statement by Sevilla on Monday.

According to Capology, the Nigerian forward was earning €60,192 per week at the Spanish club.

This amount reflects a pay cut from his Leicester City earnings, where he reportedly earned around £80,000 per week, as reported by AiScore.

Despite accepting reduced wages to secure the move, Sevilla found it difficult to offload him before the mutual agreement, as his salary remained a stumbling block for potential suitors.

While Sevilla’s decision closes one chapter, Iheanacho’s pedigree ensures he remains a player of interest across Europe.

His experience in top leagues, coupled with his track record of scoring crucial goals, makes him a valuable option for clubs in need of attacking reinforcements.

What’s next for Iheanacho?

With his Sevilla career now over, Iheanacho has been strongly linked with a move to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

The Nigerian forward could link up again with Brendan Rodgers, the manager he played under at Leicester City, which could be on the cards.

Rodgers is said to value Iheanacho’s ability to combine creativity with clinical finishing and may see him as a perfect fit for the squad.

The Nigerian striker, who has earned 58 caps for the Super Eagles, is still regarded as an experienced international forward with plenty to offer.

A move to Celtic could give the 28-year-old forward the platform to revive his career, rediscover his form, and once again showcase his talent on both domestic and European stages.
