Asisat Oshoala: Super Falcons Star Makes Big Money Move to Saudi Arabian Club

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has made a big-money move to join Saudi Women's League side Al Hilal this summer.

The Nigerian international arrived in the country on Monday and underwent medical examinations, ahead of the transfer.

She has signed a two-year deal with the club and will continue with her footballing career in the Middle East.

Oshoala was not part of the Bay FC team that lost 2-1 to Angel City on Monday night in the National Women’s Soccer League.

The Athletic reports that Al Hilal completed the agreement for the Nigerian international striker before the transfer window closed.

Recall that the 30-year-old moved to the United States in February 2024, joining BAY FC from Barcelona Women. She disclosed that it was a totally different ball game in the United States. Oshoala said via The Cable:

“The style of football is completely different from Europe. But I am somebody who has actually moved to different places.
“The coach also wants to play a different style of football from what everybody knows the NWSL for. I think that was what really caught my attention.
“Sometimes you have to leave your comfort zone to create something different for yourself as a person or build something different as a person. And if you want to attain a different height, you have to leave your comfort zone because if not, you just become too comfortable in a space.”

She went on to feature in 38 matches for Bay FC in all competitions and registered eight goals, Brila reports.

Since leaving Nigeria from Rivers Angels, Oshoala has played for top clubs in Europe, Asia and the USA.

She was also part of the Super Falcons’ squad that won a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco in July.

Her move to Al Hilal makes it another major acquisition for a club that finished sixth in the 2024-25 campaign as the competition expanded from eight to 10 teams.

As a result, she joins fellow Super Falcons teammates Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega in Saudi Arabia.

This news is coming after it was reported that the player's sister, Sherifat Oshoala, announced her engagement following her master's graduation.

Sherifat, who recently graduated with a distinction in MSc Mass Communication from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), announced her engagement to long-term partner Majeed Orolade and bragged about her educational achievements alongside it.
