Cristiano Ronaldo marked his 1,000th club appearance with a goal for Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League and was delighted to have scored on a milestone.

Ronaldo returned to competitive football for Al-Nassr after a round of friendly and mid-season games and opened his account for the year with his first goal.

The goal helped his team have one foot in the ACL quarter-final after winning the first leg away against Saudi Pro League club Al Feiha ahead of the second leg at home next week.

Per BR Football, he has scored at least a goal every calendar year since his first professional goal in 2002, exemplifying his longevity in the game.

Ronaldo celebrates Al-Nassr win

Getting a big goal on a milestone appearance is a Ronaldo thing, and he took to his Instagram page, the most followed in the world with 621 million followers, to celebrate the win.

Surprisingly, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner failed to talk about his record game or his goal; instead, he applauded the team for their performance.

“Kicking off the Round of 16 with a win. Good work, team💪🏽,” he wrote.

The former Real Madrid star, named Mr Champions League during his time in Europe, is also making the Asian Champions League his own.

He has five goal contributions – four goals and an assist in the same number of games, one goal behind top scorer, Ulsan Hyundai striker Gustav Ludwigson.

In the league, he has 20 goals and nine assists in 18 games, topping both the scorers' and playmakers' charts, though the Knights of Najd are seven points behind first-placed Al-Hilal.
