Romano's revelation left the podcast's hosts dumbstruck, with Lineker exclaiming:

"How and why?!"

To which the Italian journalist responded:

"Because I was on TV when it was the crazy game with Troy Deeney scoring against Leicester."
"And I was buzzing. My allegiance with Watford was the Italian ownership, with the Pozzo family.
"I started to follow English football, for me this attraction to Watford, to London, the Italian family taking care of the club, for me was really attractive," he added.

How does romano get transfer news?

Meanwhile, the transfer guru used the opportunity to disclose how he gets accurate transfer news.

According to the Italian, he is often in direct contact with players, who will message him if they are looking to leave their club.

“How do I get some transfer info? A lot of players are directly texting me, or I’m texting them too to ask for information," he admitted.
"Sometimes they tell me ‘please can you say something about me because I want to leave the club?’ He continued.
