Police Marathon Competition Holds In Osun

In a bid to scout for talents and promote recreational activities among the youths in the country, the annual police marathon competition held in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

This year’s edition is sponsored by the Irawo De Foundation, a non-governmental organization owned by Bashorun Adeniyi Adeoye.

Over 300 athletics participated in the marathon competition which started at the palace of Apetumodu of Ipetumodu in Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State and terminated at heart of Ile-Ife.

Ten male and ten female emerged the best of the marathon competition and were given cash rewards and other gifts. There were also various consolation prizes for the people that participated in the competition which is it maiden to be sponsored by the organization.

Speaking at a press conference to herald the 2013 Nigeria Police Half Marathon Competition, the chairman of the foundation, Chief Adeniyi Adeoye noted that the rationale for sponsoring the competition was to assist the country to discover and sponsor athletes.

He explained his foundation is ready to discover and sponsor athletes in Osun state with the aim of promoting their talents and presenting them to international competitions in the future.
