Arsenal legend Paul Merson has backed Liverpool to edge out West Ham United and Chelsea to a top-four finish at the end of the season.
The Blues have enjoyed a steady rise up the table since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, with the side picking 14 points from the available 18 to move to fifth on the log.

Man City are currently sitting pretty at the top with 59 points, 10 above second-placed United and Leicester who are third on level on points with the Red Devils.
West Ham complete the top four slots following their 2-1 thrilling win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur with 45 points, two above fifth-placed Chelsea.
Liverpool are sixth after collecting 40 points from 25 matches and five points off the coveted Champions League place.
However, Merson believes they will pick themselves up after a poor run of results to seal a top-four finish at the end of the season.
According to the Arsenal icon, he expects Leicester to keep their place in third behind United and City, with a battle for the top four moving to the one remaining slot. Merson told Sky Sports:
"Man City are in, obviously – that’s the easy part. Next, I have to stick with Manchester United and Leicester, who are a very good team. The top three now will stay there, in my opinion.
"After that, this is so difficult. You know me, I don’t like to sit on the fence, but I’m finding it really hard to pick a team for the final spot."
"I don’t know why, but I have to stick with Liverpool. Please don’t ask me why but I’m keeping the faith with Jurgen Klopp and his side."
His prediction that the Blues could finish outside a Champions League spot came a day after Arsene Wenger made a similar prediction.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Thomas Tuchel has heaped praises on Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud for remaining relevant at the highest level of the game despite being a 34-year-old, Sky Sports.
