Out of favour Chelsea star Danny Drinkwater has stated that he did not rejoice when the club announced the sacking of Frank Lampard.

Drinkwater joined the Blues from Leicester City in 2016and has failed to live up to the billing after completing a £35million move.

The England midfielder made 22 appearances under Antonio Conte has had loan spells at Burnley and Aston Villa before joining Turkish side Kasimpasa.

And after the sacking of Lampard from Stamford Bridge reports claim German boss Thomas Tuchel will replace the English manager.

Drinkwater posted a picture on his Instagram story showing him celebrating while at Leicester.

One fan said in response:

“Drinkwater such a disgrace and waste of a player.”

A second added:

“Tuchel doesn’t even know who he is.”

A third continued:

“What a joke. That’s why he failed at most clubs. Poor mentality.”
With a fourth saying: “If he thinks he’s gonna get in the team then he needs to be sacked too.”

Following an online backlash, the photo was quickly removed and replaced with an explanation.

He wrote: “Thought that was a bit of a strange reaction, didn’t hear about the news before I posted that.
“I was just missing playing.
“The manager was somebody I looked up to highly as a player.”

He said:

“I knew about the banner a week or two ago directly from the people who put it together.
“They're obviously huge supporters of this club and it was very appreciated.

“One thing I know when I'm at the Bridge, I'm at the club I love and have always had huge support as a player and as a manager.”#

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Frank Lampard may have managed his last game for Premier League club Chelsea as reports from England have it that the tactician will be fired on Monday, January 25.

UK outlet Daily Telegraph claims that the players of the club have been asked not to turn up for training as a huge decision is set to be made.

The report adds that former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is set to be appointed as Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will axe his tenth manager.
