Danny Drinkwater has come under heavy criticism as he posted a celebratory picture on social media after Frank Lampard's sacking.

The 42-year-old has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Blues despite guiding his side to a 3-1 win over Luton Town in their FA Cup meeting over the weekend.

Tammy Abraham scored all three goals for the Stamford Bridge outfit but that was not enough to save the job of the club legend.

The midfielder has been loaned out twice since the former Derby County boss arrived the club in the summer of 2019.

First, he spent time at Burnley and Aston Villa and has been being shipped out again this campaign to Turkish outfit Kasimpasa.

Chelsea have now decided to axe the manager this week and the former Foxes star seems delighted with the news because of his post on Instagram story.

Some of the Blues fans have now taken it out on the 30-year-old as they accuse him of disrespecting his former boss as reported by Daily Mail. Some of the fans reacted:

"Danny Drinkwater showing the level of disrespect and classlessness that saw him dropped from the squad. Good riddance.

Tension as Chelsea boss Lampard 'attacks' journalists during press conference (here's why)

"Danny Drinkwater is not just an awful footballer but an awful person. Our worst ever player, terminate his contract whilst you’re at it @ChelseaFC"
"Drinkwater celebrating Lampard getting sacked as if [Thomas] Tuchel won't send him out on loan. At least he let you play with the academy team. Count your blessings.'

However, the midfielder has responded to the backlash that follows his post saying he only intended to show that he misses playing football - stressing that Lampard was 'someone I looked up to hugely as a player' in his new post.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Lampard was shown the exit door barely a day after he led the Blues to the fifth round of the FA Cup following their 3-1 win over minnows Luton Town.

However, unlike their impressive form in cup competitions, Chelsea's form in the Premier League has been at best horrible having won just three of their last eight matches.
