Atiku Takes Fresh Swipe at Tinubu: "No Government Worth Its Salt"
- President Bola Tinubu has again been dragged by the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over the state of the state
- Atiku, in a statement through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, said the president's reforms have not been working for the country
- The former vice president's comment came amid his consistent move to sack President Tinubu in the 2027 election
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria, has taken a fresh swipe against President Bola Tinubu, alleging that with over two years into his administration, there has been no sign that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leader can rescue the country from widespread hunger and poverty.
The chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) lamented the state of hunger in the country, adding that such was unacceptable, most especially among the downtrodden and underprivileged.

Atiku, through a statement from his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, decried the claim of President Tinubu about his economic reforms, adding that food insecurity has remained a menace in the daily lives of common Nigerians across the country.
The statement reads in part:
“There is no government worth its salt that does not place priority on the welfare and security of the people.”
Atiku sends warning to Tinubu
The former vice president warned that the growing socio-political uprisings and revolutions globally were orchestrated by widespread hunger and harsh living conditions, especially in countries where there are large resources and extreme poverty.
He emphasised that the primary duty of any government was to ensure the welfare and security of its people. However, the former vice president lamented that millions of Nigerians who were trapped in poverty and misery under the Tinubu administration and the APC have multiplied within two years.
According to the former vice president, the current situation in the country did not offer any hope for the people, and it was a cause of the growing criminal activities, which included large-scale fraud, kidnapping, drug abuse, terrorism, ritual killings, cultism, among others.

Atiku's plot to sack Tinubu in 2027
Atiku has been at the forefront of sacking President Tinubu in the 2027 election, calling on opposition leaders to come together under one umbrella, which eventually led to the formation of the coalition.
The coalition has gained momentum in recent times. It has been welcomed by other opposition leaders, including former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.
Other figures in the coalition included the former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the immediate past governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, as well as several others. The movement recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
