Reactions as Top Gov Vows to Build Rail Line to Abuja

Niger Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has said that his administration was planning to construct a rail line from Minna, the state capital, to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to allow people to live in the state and work in Abuja.

The governor, in a trending video, explained that the rail line would start from the Three Arms Zone, "making it possible to work in Abuja during the day and return to Minna to sleep at night."

Nigerians react to Governor Bago's announcement

The disclosure by the governor has started generating mixed reactions from some Nigerians who have shared their views about the announcement.

Matthias commended the development:

"Now that’s visionary leadership. Making Minna a viable satellite city for Abuja will ease pressure on the capital, boost Niger State’s economy, and transform daily life for thousands. Let’s get it done!"

Abimbola alleged that government projects are always inflated during execution:

"If Actual cost of Rail is #1B, government will use $100B dollar to execute it. It’s a win, win game when next governor comes in, he won’t care to maintain what he didn’t commission it. Whereas the old rail system is still there with government fund without repairing it."

Ifekam Ebunu explained how the project would help the state:

"If this is done, it will be very good for Niger state. The PAYE tax that will be generated will boost the state's economy. Also, the real estate in the state will appreciate, and other supporting industries will spring up. Welcomed development."

Kunle compared the governor to his ccounterpart in Ondo state:

Abdulhadi called on the governor to look into Baro Port in the state:

"Abeg make una advance this man to struggle for Baro port first if that one start work working then they should move to making the rail line."
