The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported a total of 72,274 physical voter registrations across six geopolitical zones between 25th and 29th August 2025, with the North-West region emerging as the frontrunner.

According to official data released by INEC, the North-West zone recorded the highest number of physical registrations, totalling 24,238.

This figure significantly outpaced other regions and reaffirmed the zone’s consistent voter mobilisation strength in recent electoral cycles.

The North-East followed with 12,213 registrations, while the South-South recorded a close 12,130. The South-West registered 11,175 voters, and North Central saw 11,045 new entries.

The South-East, excluding Anambra State, accounted for 1,473 registrations.

Anambra Excluded Due to Forthcoming Election

INEC confirmed that physical registration activities were suspended in Anambra State during the five-day period due to preparations for the forthcoming governorship election.

The commission stated that the decision was made to ensure logistical focus and electoral integrity ahead of the polls.

Five-Day Surge Reflects Voter Engagement

The surge in physical registrations over the five-day window underscores growing public engagement with the electoral process.

INEC officials noted that the figures reflect both the effectiveness of the commission’s outreach efforts and the electorate’s increasing awareness of the importance of voter participation.

As Nigeria continues to prepare for future elections, INEC reiterated its commitment to expanding access to voter registration and ensuring transparency across all zones.
