APC Group Drags Governor Otti's Govt to EFCC, ICPC, UNESCO Over N54bn School Renovation

FCT, Abuja - Governor Alex Otti has been dragged to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and other anti-corruption organizations, locally and internationally.
A pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, known as Abia Best Interest Association (ABIA), is urging the organisations to investigate the controversial N54 billion meant for school renovation in the state.

The APC group also wrote the National Assembly, Federal Ministry of Finance, World Bank, Transparency International, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), among others.
The Convener of the group, Eze Chikamnayo, Esq., made this known while addressing a press conference on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Abuja.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng, Chikamnayo said Gov Otti’s failure and refusal to publish the list, location, contractors, and pictures of the purported 51 public school projects is indicative of systemic corruption, impunity, lack of transparency, and accountability in governance.
The APC chieftain called on anti-graft agencies and groups, Civil Society Organizations, and leaders of thought to demand accountability from Gov Otti's administration.
"Already, we have written official letters to the above bodies and other international organizations that specialize in basic Education, demanding urgent intervention to rescue the State from any attempt by Mr Alex Otti from using Education as a conduit pipe for the misappropriation of public funds.

"In the interest of Abia State, Abia children and generations yet unborn, we have dragged the state government, under Alex Otti-led administration, to all relevant anti-corruption agencies, locally and internationally.
"We have also written to the National Assembly, UNESCO, World Bank, Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Education, and indeed watchdogs like Transparency International, Amnesty International, and others for urgent intervention and sanctions where necessary."
The APC group challenged 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to give Governor Otti sufficient tutelage and a lecture on transparency and accountability."
"It means that the Labour Party is not a party to be trusted with the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So we are saying that Mr. Alex Otti must come clean, and we are challenging Mr. Peter Obi to stop, immediately, all the noise-making across this country about transparency and accountability, because charity ought to begin at home."

APC chieftain urges Gov Otti to stop telling stories
Legit.ng earlier reported that APC chieftain in Abia state, Prince Paul Ikonne, threw a fresh challenge at Governor Alex Otti.
Ikonne urged Governor Otti to stop the distractions and show the renovated schools to the people of Abia State.
He said it is clear that Governor Otti is either deliberately misleading Abians about the N54 billion or "is unaware of what his government is signing off”.
APC group accuses Governor Otti of lacking transparency
Previously, Legit.ng reported that APC members under the Abia’s Best Interest Association made serious allegations against Governor Otti.
The Abia’s Best Interest Association accused Governor Otti of lacking transparency in managing the state’s affairs.
The Convener of the APC group, Eze Chikamnayo, decried the deplorable state of infrastructure in these schools despite the N54bn budgeted for the renovation of public schools.
