Breaking: Deputy Governor Returns to Taraba After 8 Months

Alhaji Aminu Alkali, the deputy governor of Taraba, has reportedly returned to Jalingo after being absent from the state for eight months.
Although there was no official statement from the authority about the return of Alkali, there was a short video making the rounds on social media.

How Taraba deputy governor returned to state
Daily Trust reported that sources disclosed that the deputy governor returned to the state through the Yalo Airport.
It was learnt that Alkali arrived from Abuja and was moved to his official residence at the government house in a four-vehicle convoy.
The former governor has been reportedly fighting an undisclosed ailment and was last seen in office eight months ago.
Official speaks on Taraba deputy governor's return
Speaking on the development, an official who was attached to the office of the deputy governor, but spoke on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that Alkali entered the office on Tuesday and left after a short period.
The source said:
“It is today that l was told that the Deputy governor returned to Jalingo unannounced. l did not see him at the time l entered the office, but l was told that he entered his office briefly and met with some senior officers."
It was also reported that the office of the deputy governor did not have a press secretary, but Governor Agbu Kefas's chief press secretary, Yusuf Sanda, explained that he had yet to be informed about the deputy governor's return.
He said:
“I saw a short video clip showing the Deputy governor in his office, and l do not know the source of the video clip”.

Job applications in Taraba Polytechnic
This came days after over 4,489 applicants submitted applications for just 98 advertised vacancies at the Federal Polytechnic, Bali, in Taraba state.
The rector of the institution, Dr Mohammed Usman, disclosed this while briefing the Governing Council at its 5th meeting held at the Rector’s Conference Room in Bali, the administrative headquarters of Bali Local Government Area.
Dr Usman explained that the applications were received after the vacancies were advertised in the Daily Trust and Punch newspapers on July 2, 2025. The application window closed on August 13, 2025, in strict compliance with federal regulations.
Federal University Wukari, Taraba
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI) is a federal government institution located in Wukari, Taraba state, Nigeria. It was established in 2011 by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
