“For the point of clearance, Mr. Peter Obi is a member of the Labour Party. You know there are still issues in the Labour Party and INEC is yet to respond to them,” he said.
He also disclosed that Obi intends to contest in the 2027 presidential election, pledging to serve only one term if elected.
“If elected, he will provide Nigeria with a single term of purposeful leadership. The majority of our problems can be resolved in one year if we focus on essential human development, as he demonstrated during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State,” Yunusa said.

In his keynote speech, Professor Francis Egbokhare, a linguist from the University of Ibadan, assessed Nigeria’s political and economic state. He praised the country’s abundant talent but said it was underutilised.
Describing Nigeria as “a giant lying prostrate, trampled by dwarfs,” he criticised governance for lacking direction, relying on propaganda, and engaging in wasteful spending.
He cautioned political actors against mistaking tactics for strategy, warning:
“Do not play a game you have neither mastered nor can control; change the game or change the rules.”
Oyo state coordinator and convener of the conference, Ayo Akinyemi, described the gathering as an opportunity for members to consolidate their vision ahead of the next elections.
He said the movement is driven by a shared commitment to address Nigeria’s socio-economic and political challenges.
“We genuinely seek change in Nigeria and recognised that the country’s political and socio-economic challenges require collective determination,” he said.
