Anambra 2021: Prominent APC Chieftain Reveals Cause of Party's Misfortune, Predicts More Woes

Uche Nwosu, a former governorship candidate in Imo and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has spoken on the party's performance in the Anambra gubernatorial election.

Nwosu stated that the APC's poor performance in the yet-to-be-concluded election was caused by what he tagged as a terrible reward system, The Nation reports.

The APC bigwig opined that the party fails to recognise its founding fathers but hands over the working structures to the hands of new defectors who know very little.

He suggested that the APC must start now to conduct free and credible primaries and announce the winner without favouritism in other to get back to its winning streak before the 2023 general elections.

Nwosu predicted that if this is not done, the party is in danger of losing more ahead of the 2023 polls.

He added that except the founding fathers are appeased, the party's fortune will continue to go down.

The chieftain said:

“What is happening to APC in the Southeast is a result of poor reward system, the party undermined those that worked so hard to plant the party in the zone and instead embraced newcomers who do not have what it takes to endear the party to the people.
"If the founding fathers of the party are not appeased and handed back the reigns of the APC, the fortune will continue to go down."

Anambra decides 2021: APC floored at deputy governor's polling unit

Meanwhile, the Anambra deputy governor, Nkem Okeke, was on Saturday, November 6, defeated at his polling unit 008 Etiti Awovu, Enugwu-Ukwu.

Okeke who recently defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC was unable to deliver to his new party.

The Anambra deputy governor on the platform of the APC was able to poll only 24 votes.
