"In my tradition as far as a man have son, is the son that will perform the tradition no matter how young he maybe."

@Ola said:

"Same happened to us. My mums siblings didn’t attend her burial. My mum was the first child, only the one after her attended, the remaining 3 didn’t attend because they wanted to be the ones to set a convenient date for themselves and dictate what should happen, even after me, my siblings and my dad went to see them as right demands. Where does that happen. We just ignored them and buried her with all the love we could muster. I really miss her."

"These family members always feel like God's, during burial. Me, that threatened them that we would bury my dad outside the village and they would never see any of my dad's children again. Na dem call to beg me and agreed they would comply. I am a woman and the first born. I promised I would bury my dad like a king and I did. My own is parents should ensure they build their children and ensure their confidence is intact. They can confront anything and succeed. That was what happened in our case. They needed us more, not the other way round. So, the threat worked.
