Australia's Department of Home Affairs has published the eligibility requirements for its Distinguished Talent visa.

Who qualifies for Australian Distinguished Talent visa?
According to the official visa guidance, applicants must be outside Australia at the time the visa is granted and must have a record of exceptional achievement in one of four eligible fields:
1. a profession
2. sport
3. the arts
4. academia and research.
To meet the talent threshold, an applicant must currently be prominent in their field, hold abilities that are superior to most others working in the same area, and be widely recognised as exceptional in any country where that field is practised. The applicant must also show a history of sustained achievement that is not expected to decline over time.
The field itself must be recognised and accepted in Australia and carry international standing. Crucially, the applicant must have been active and prominent in the field within the two years leading up to their application.
Nomination is a mandatory part of the process. Applicants must be nominated by an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, an eligible New Zealand citizen, or an Australian organisation that holds a national reputation in the relevant area of talent.
Distinguished Talent Visa: Benefit to Australia
Beyond individual achievement, applicants must show that their presence in Australia will benefit the broader community.
The contribution can take several forms, including economic, social, or cultural impact, or the potential to raise Australia's standing internationally in academia, the arts, or sport. The benefit must extend to the nation as a whole, not just a specific community or institution.
The visa is aimed specifically at individuals whose talent and track record set them apart from the general pool of skilled migrants.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Australia's Department of Home Affairs has outlined the residence requirement foreigners must meet before applying for citizenship.
Applicants must have lived in Australia on a valid visa for a number of years before the date they apply for citizenship.
The rules also specify how much time applicants are allowed to have spent outside Australia during that period.
