England's government has published the full list of conditions prospective teachers must satisfy before they can apply for a training course through the official teacher training portal, covering postgraduate routes as well as a degree apprenticeship option.
The service is specifically for training courses in England and applies to those wishing to teach in state primary schools, secondary schools, or further education institutions.

What Applicants Need to Qualify
For postgraduate teacher training leading to primary or secondary school qualifications, candidates must hold a degree alongside at least a grade 4 (C) in both English and maths GCSEs.
Those applying to teach at primary level face one additional hurdle: a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE science.
Applicants who do not hold these GCSE grades are not automatically disqualified, but they must demonstrate an equivalent level of ability, either through an equivalence test set by the training provider or through other supporting evidence.
For further education postgraduate training, providers generally prefer candidates to hold a degree or a relevant vocational or technical qualification, as well as the same English and maths GCSE standard, though the requirements are described as preferred rather than fixed.
The Apprenticeship Route
A teacher degree apprenticeship offers an alternative path for those who do not yet hold a degree.
This route still requires grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths GCSEs, plus the science GCSE for those targeting primary education.
Universities set their own A-level requirements for this route in terms of both number and grades.
Two additional conditions apply specifically to the apprenticeship: candidates must have been resident in England for at least three years and must be aged 16 or over.
Once an offer is received on any route, candidates must also confirm they have the health and physical capacity to begin training.
Those who will be teaching students under the age of 18 are required to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, and anyone applying from outside the UK and Ireland may need to arrange a visa.
Applicants whose qualifications were obtained overseas can request a statement of comparability from UK ENIC, the agency responsible for recognising international qualifications.
The certificate, which some training providers may request as part of the application process, carries a fee and takes 15 working days to be issued.
