A Nigerian lady who is a lawyer shared a video to educate her followers about the caution fee and house rent.
According to the lady, there is a huge difference between the house rent paid by a tenant and the caution fee.

In a video she posted on Instagram, Celebrity Lawyer said the caution fee is not part of the house rent.
She said a caution fee is money paid by the tenant to be used for repairs in case any damage occurs in the apartment during the period of stay.

The lawyer said the caution fee is refundable if, after the period of stay in the apartment, nothing was damaged.
She said the tenant can sue should the landlord refuse to refund the caution fee.
Her words:
"A caution fee is not part of your rent. Caution fee is that amount that you pay to the landlord so that if you destroy anything on the landlord's property, he will use that money to fix it. Where you do not destroy anything on the landlord's property, you are entitled to a full refund of your caution fee. Note this. If he fails to refund you, sue him."
