A Nigerian puff puff seller shared her inspiring grass-to-grace story, explaining how she turned to selling puff puff after graduating from university without securing a job.
This comes just days after the governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, rewarded her with a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree. The governor noticed her hawking puff puff during a rally in Osogbo and discovered she is a graduate with an NCE certificate.
During their encounter, he gave her #50,000, promised her a job, and offered other opportunities after seeing her run her business with passion while greeting him

In a fresh report, she explained that she lost her mother some years back, and life became difficult ever since, making it hard to earn a living.
To sustain herself, she revealed that she met a woman in her church who accepted her like a daughter. The woman, a caterer, often took her along for jobs, and from there she was able to save a little.
After saving, she started her puff puff business with what she had. Although the money was not enough, she would take loans from suppliers, buy items on credit, and pay back after making sales.
She revealed her name as Oluwatosin Adejumo in an exclusive chat with BBC, where she spoke about her journey and struggles as a graduate.
Lady Goes From Teaching Job to Puff Puff Business
The puff puff seller mentioned that she once worked as a teacher, but the pay was too little. She decided to think of a way forward and got the motivation to start the puff puff business. She explained that she began small and relied on credit to sustain it.

Speaking on how she met the governor, she said:
"The day I met with the governor, it wasn't Governor Ademola Adélékè I went looking for, I went to sell my goods at the front of the government house located at Abere in Osogbo."
She spoke about how her struggle started after losing her mother:
"4 years back, I lost my mother and since then it becomes hard for me to move forward. No work, but I kept pushing it."
"The church I was going to, a woman there accepted me like a daughter. She's a caterer and whenever she gets job, she'll take me a long and I follow her till I saved up enough to start my puff puff business."
"Still, I take some goods on credit and pay her after selling my goods. It is true I was once a teacher but the pay wasn't enough. I had a rethink and thought about puff puff business and reason about what I studied at school and I believed that the money I'll see there would be more than what I get paid to teach."

How I Met the Governor
On how she met the governor while going about her business, she explained:
"The day I met with the governor, it wasn't the governor I actually went to look for, I went to meet to sell my puff puff at the front of the government house located at Abere in Osogbo, it wasn't long that Governor Ademola Adélékè arrived and people started praising him and I joined and that's how the governor called me."
"He asked for the cost of my goods, puff puff he paid me #50,000. He called me in and asked questions. He asked if I am educated, I said yes and he said I am a graduate and I am selling puff puff, I said yes."
"He handed me over to an honorable commissioner Ajeigbe Olusoji. He collected my credentials and started documentation and what's left is my original results. and after that, it's an appointment letter."

On her advice to the youths, she said:
"We shouldn't be ashamed of the job we do if it is not against the law or the way of God. I'll advice the youths to learn a skill because it is very important."
"The next step for me after getting the work is to help my father because he's been my backbone for a long time and to also help my siblings."
