The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) on Thursday, August 14, accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) of spreading a misleading narrative about the person of its founder, the late Apostle Ayodele Joseph Babalola.

According to CAC, pastor Fatoyinbo had insinuated that the late church founder was poor and had no money despite his anointing.

"In one of your trending messages on YouTube, you acknowledged that Apostle Babalola was highly anointed but "had no money", and then went on to ask sarcastically, “Where are his children?” — a question that was both insensitive and ill-informed."

Pastor Fatoyinbo has denied preaching a message that disparaged the revered Ayodele Joseph Babalola.

He said in a post made on Facebook:

"Let me state however that at no time in the sermon did I refer to the children of the late Apostle and Father of faith in bad light. I would never do that. The raw copy of the message is online and this can be verified. Our church is known worldwide as a place of Honor and I would never in any way of manner take lightly the grace over Apostle Babalola, his children or his ministry for granted or speak lightly of same. I am also aware that the children of the late Veteran of faith, who are all serving God and keeping up the legacy of our late father of faith are not only shining examples of generational impact, but good and present day examples for children of visionaries to follow."

Pastor Fatoyinbo's words as heard in a YouTube video

Meanwhile, Legit.ng sighted the video of the sermon that started the exchange on the YouTube channel of Pastor Korede Komaiya of The Master's Place International Church, Warri.

The message appears to have been preached during a session for church leaders.

In the sermon titled Financial Flow in Ministry, Pastor Biodun stated that poverty is a killer of dreams.

"So, the word of God can deliver us from poverty, because poverty is... it causes destruction. Poverty demolishes families....is the killer of dreams. I was studying recently about what Apostle Ayo Babalola did. I stand to be corrected, but if they have documented what God did in the life of that man, I'm telling you people will be coming for pilgrimage. He was anointed. Oh!, I described to our church members some of the things I heard. So anointed. He was praying one day and a python crossed his leg and dried up. He didn't even need to say 'I bind', it dried up, just crossing his leg. What are you talking about? Anointed man, heavy-duty grace. But no money. So, all the grace just went like that."
