2027: Kabiru Usman Reacts to APC’s Consensus Governorship Candidate in Gombe

The emergence of Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as the All Progressives Congress (APC ) consensus gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State is a true reflection of public aspirations in the state.
Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan, Director-General of the Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS) asserted this while reacting to the announcement of the consensus candidate.

The broad-based consensus emerged after extensive consultations led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The process involved multiple aspirants and key stakeholders including religious leaders, traditional rulers, business leaders, party executives, and grassroots mobilisers.
The engagements were designed to capture wide-ranging opinions to ensure the outcome carried unanimous public acceptance.
Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan, said the choice reflects the will of the people.
“Ultimately, the choice of Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna is being framed not merely as a political decision, but as a reflection of the aspirations of the good people of Gombe State.
“It represents a convergence of experience, character, public trust and qualities that stakeholders believe are essential for sustaining progress and advancing developmental objectives of the state", he opined.
According to him, Dr. Gwamna brings decades of active participation in partisan politics, with experience spanning both public and private sectors.
"He is widely recognised for philanthropy toward vulnerable populations, a record that has strengthened his grassroots appeal.
"His attributes of simplicity, humility, and respect for humanity have also featured prominently. In a diverse state like Gombe, his inclusive and non-discriminatory outlook is seen as critical to sustaining social harmony", he stated.
Dr. Hassan added that the process raises governance expectations.
“Having emerged through a consultative and inclusive process, there is a corresponding public anticipation that such inclusiveness will translate into good governance style, the one that prioritises stakeholder engagement, transparency and accountability.
"The consensus has generated optimism across the state, with reports indicating broad acceptance among party members and the public.
"By reducing internal contestation, the APC can now shift focus to policy articulation and voter engagement ahead of 2027, with youth employment, agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare expected to dominate discourse", he stated.
