APC Lambasts Atiku Over Comments on Madagali Attack

  • Adamawa APC condemns Atiku Abubakar for allegedly exploiting the Madagali terror attack to push a political agenda
  • Party accuses the former vice president of releasing a “fictitious” statement with false casualty figures and location details
  • APC says Atiku neglected Adamawa during his tenure and blames PDP-era leadership for creating conditions that fueled insecurity

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has faulted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for what it described as “insensitive remarks” on the recent terrorist attack in Wagga Mongoro, Madagali Local Government Area.

In a strongly worded statement issued in Yola on Sunday, the party said Atiku rushed to release “a hollow statement riddled with lies and errors” instead of showing genuine sympathy to families affected by the violence.

“Instead of standing with the grieving persons, he hurriedly put up a sordid and fictitious statement laced with political innuendos,” the party said.

It added that Atiku “got both the place and even number of casualties involved wrong,” describing his response as a “comedy of errors.”

The APC further alleged that Atiku and the Peoples Democratic Party government in which he served as vice president created the conditions that fuelled the insecurity now confronting the country.

“The PDP government in which he was the second in command squarely puts us into this quagmire,” the statement read.

According to the party, Atiku neglected Adamawa during his time in office, attracting “no meaningful projects and abandoning even his own hometown of Jada while concentrating on personal business ventures.

The statement maintained that the current administration in Adamawa and at the federal level is working with “competent, patriotic and committed hands” to support the armed forces and security agencies in restoring lasting peace.

It warned against what it called the “shameless politicization of grief,” saying no responsible leader should adopt such tactics to score political points.

“The people of Adamawa are not deceived,” the APC declared.
“They know the difference between genuine solidarity and empty posturing. They know who stood with them in their darkest hours and who is now cynically dancing on fresh graves for political gain.”

The party extended condolences to victims of the Wagga Mongoro attack, offered prayers for the injured, and pledged continued support for security operations aimed at defeating insurgents in the region
