Oke-Ode: Tragedy as Bandits Kill 15 Vigilantes, Hunters in Kwara

Oke-Ode, Kwara state - Armed bandits have killed 15 vigilantes and hunters during an attack on the Oke-Ode community in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attackers also kidnapped an unspecified number of residents during the attack on Sunday morning, September 28, 2025.

As reported by The Punch, a member of the local vigilante group identified simply as Ajetunmobi, accused the government of being economical with the truth by claiming the attackers were repelled.

Ajetunmobi identified the killed community members as Oji, Saheed Metubi, Baale Ógba Ayo, among others.

“We have been hearing that the bandits were around the community since Saturday night, and we sent out messages to security operatives to be prepared.
“To our surprise, this morning the attackers started the attack from the duty post, targeting the vigilantes.”

According to Ajetunmobi, the corpses were taken to the police station while the injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Share.

Ajetunmobi claimed that intelligence about the planned attack had been circulating for days.

The vigilante member accused the government of failing in its duty to protect citizens

“The government failed in its primary duty. Information has been circulating for some time now that they were planning to attack Oke-Ode. Why were the soldiers withdrawn?”

State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the police command is waiting for detailed information about the incidents.

Bandits attack students' hostel in polytechnic

Recall that armed bandits invaded a male hostel of students of Bilyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia, in Jigawa state.

The attackers injured some students, stole phones, and failed to kidnap some of the students from the hostel.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, shared more details about the bandit attack on the polytechnic students.
