Viral videos show residents wading through their flooded neighbourhoods, while motorists are stranded on flooded roads.
Motorists and pedestrians were trapped in the gridlock on flooded roads across the state.
It was gathered that commuters spent long hours waiting to board buses while vehicles broke down on the waterlogged roads in some areas.
As reported by The Punch, the overflow of a canal cut off access from Olatunji Street in Maryland to the adjoining Mende community.
A member of a church in the area, identified simply as Christiana, said the flood destroyed some instruments in the process.
A business owner, simply identified as Kalu, said some people scooped water out of their homes.
"I also suffered the same fate as the water flowed into my shop.”
The situation was not any better at the Ogba-Wempco junction in the Ikeja area of the state.
A commuter, Tunji Abass, said he spent hours in traffic due to the flood.
Sharing his experience, he said:
“The vehicles were moving very slowly due to the flooded portion of the road. It has always been like that during the rainy season. It becomes even worse times that water flows into people’s vehicles. The earlier the government attends to this, the better.”
A resident working in the Ikate area, Victor Obinna, said he resorted to sleeping in the office whenever it rained due to gridlock in the area.
“I stay in the office all through the week, and whenever I don’t stay in the office, I walk through the flood before getting to the office. Sometimes, I even had to dress up in the office because by the time I got to the office, half of my body would have been soaked.”
Newly rented apartment gets flooded
Recall that a young Nigerian lady is in tears after renting what she thought was her dream home in Lagos, but a few months after moving in, heavy rain flooded the whole apartment
In a video she shared online, the lady said she made the worst mistake of her life as she explained that her landlord is not even in Nigeria, so she has to deal with the problem alone.
Her story quickly touched many people on social media, and some felt sorry for her, while others said this is a common struggle with Lagos houses.
