How body of slain Gombe man was found
His remains, now decomposed, were later found under the bridge between Dukku and the Akko area, a few days after the ransom was paid to the bandits.
Daily Trust reported that a family member, who did not want to be identified, disclosed that the deceased "was tied up, sl@ughtered, and shot in the body.”
According to the family member, the ransom was raised after the family sold farm produce and livestock on Dukku market day. He added that the bandits received the money on the same day. He added that "they counted it and even offered to give him N10,000 for his Okada ride from the bush to town.”
The family also made it known that they spent more than N500,000 to track the abductors' phone number, which they used to reach out to them. Two days after the deceased was kidnapped, his compound was invaded by cattle rustlers, and two bulls were stolen from his corral.
Five days later, the assailants reportedly returned to the village and his neighbour became the next target. The neighbour escaped, but his wife was abducted, and she had yet to return home.

Banditry is one of the security challenges confronting the country at the moment. The menace, which came into existence years after the emergence of terrorism in the northeast, has crippled activities and businesses in the northwest and north-central parts of the country.
