The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has issued a directive to all shortlisted candidates in its ongoing recruitment exercise, instructing them to validate their email addresses via the official recruitment portal.

According to PUNCH Online, a total of 286,697 applicants have been shortlisted for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) phase of the recruitment process.
The service emphasised that email validation is now a mandatory step for all candidates progressing to the next stage.
Email validation crucial for Nigeria customs recruitment process
In its official statement, the NCS clarified that future communication with shortlisted applicants would be conducted exclusively through their registered email addresses.
It stated, “Henceforth, the Service will only communicate with shortlisted applicants strictly through their registered email addresses. No communication will be conducted through unofficial platforms or social media pages.”
The service acknowledged that some candidates had experienced difficulties receiving official correspondence. To address this, it advised all shortlisted individuals to log on to the Recruitment Portal via [http://updates.customs.gov.ng], using the National Identification Number (NIN) submitted during registration.
The statement continued, “Kindly visit the Portal and log in with the NIN used while registering to access your profile, confirm the correctness of your registered email address, and update it where necessary.”
CBT phase and further instructions
The NCS outlined key steps for the next phase of the recruitment exercise. It confirmed that:
• The CBT will commence on a date to be communicated via email.
• Only applicants with verified email addresses will receive official CBT instructions, pre-test access links, and login credentials.
• Candidates who fail to update or verify their emails may be unable to access critical information required for participation.

According to the NSC, the agency said it plans to recruit 3,927 officers in 2025. The application process opens on 27 December 2024 and will close on 2 January 2025.
