“When I Die”: Odumeje Shares Mysterious Prophecy About Future

  • Prophet Odumeje declared during a church service that when he dies, nobody will see his corpse, calling himself a 'lion' and a 'dead man walking'
  • He said his mission is not about longevity but to prove the supremacy of Jesus Christ, stating he is the strongest spiritually after the late TB Joshua
  • The preacher’s prophecy has stirred mixed reactions across Nigeria, with some fans calling it divine and critics dismissing this as 'theatrics'

Prophet Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has drawn national attention with a prophecy that has left his congregation and critics debating his claims.

The founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry in Onitsha declared during a church service that his end will not follow the natural order.

According to him, when his life’s mission is complete, his body will not be seen.

“I’m the strongest spiritual man in the world after the general, Emmanuel TB Joshua. We are not many - just two. One has finished his assignment and has returned home. Remaining is the Lion himself, the dead man. I don’t have much time to spend here. Nobody will see my corpse,” Odumeje proclaimed before a packed church.

He insisted that his ministry is not defined by longevity but by mandate, saying his purpose is to prove the supremacy of Christ.

“Our mission is to clear your doubt about Jesus Christ. Our mission is one God and one power, and that man is Jesus Christ,” he told the congregation.

Odumeje’s statement adds to a long list of unconventional declarations that have cemented his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most controversial preachers. His services are often marked by theatrical demonstrations, bold prophecies, and symbolic phrases.

Followers regularly echo his self-ascribed titles such as 'liquid metal', 'the war', and 'indaboski bahose', a self-made phrase that serves as more of a slogan.

The cleric has consistently maintained that his ministry is unique and divinely mandated. Supporters interpret his eccentric style as evidence of deep spiritual authority, while critics dismiss it as showmanship.

Yet, each public appearance or declaration fuels both admiration and backlash in equal measure.

His prophecy about death and the absence of a corpse has intensified conversations around his ministry’s direction and his personal legacy.

Many within his fold have taken the statement as proof of his extraordinary spiritual identity, while skeptics argue that such claims thrive more on theatrics than doctrine.

Odumeje, who often describes himself as the 'lion' and the 'dead man walking', has remained defiant in the face of criticism. He continues to insist that his calling is to reaffirm the sovereignty of God before the world.

Whether his latest prophecy will reinforce his stature among believers or attract further scrutiny remains uncertain.

What is clear is that Odumeje’s words have once again ignited national debate about faith, charisma, and the boundaries of spiritual leadership in Nigeria.

Odumeje’s ‘no corpse’ prophecy heretical, says theologian

A Christian theologian has described Prophet Odumeje’s claim that “nobody will see my corpse at death” as heretical and lacking biblical foundation.

Speaking with Legit.ng, Elijah Oluwatobi Samuel, furthered that scripture shows only a few individuals experienced unusual end-of-life realities:

His words:

“Enoch, who 'walked with God, and he was not, for God took him' (Genesis 5:24), and Elijah, who was taken up by a whirlwind into heaven (2 Kings 2:11–12).”
“Moses, on the other hand, was the only person who died, yet his burial place was concealed by God Himself (Deuteronomy 34:5–6). Importantly, Moses never proclaimed such an outcome for himself—it was solely God’s prerogative.”

The scholar of religious studies stressed that,

“For anyone to presumptuously declare that no one will see their corpse is a display of self-exaltation rather than humility. Such a statement reflects self-aggrandizement, which contradicts the Christlike attitude expected of all believers.”

Questioning his declaration motive, he asked, “Does it serve to edify the body of Christ, or is it an attempt to project oneself as a figure beyond human mortality—a demi-god?”

“True Christian ministry seeks to glorify God, not elevate man.”

He, however, concluded with a call for repentance:

“It is not too late to repent and redirect one’s focus so that every action and utterance is to the glory of God, in line with Paul’s admonition: ‘So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God’ (1 Corinthians 10:31).
