Before his arraignment, Unadinma had gained notoriety across Ebonyi for releasing controversial prophecies that often sparked unrest. In one incident, he allegedly declared that an Ebonyi-born businessman, Emeka Mgbore, was involved in ritual activities.

A video of the prophecy reportedly circulated on social media, after which Mgbore’s shops in Ogun state were attacked and looted by an angry mob.

The police also accused him of making false and inflammatory statements against other residents, including Linus Uguru and Njoku Iziogo, leading to tension in their communities.

The prosecution opposed the request, insisting the allegations were serious and damaging to the complainants’ reputation and safety.

Magistrate Sandra Ifeanyi-Oyibe ruled that the defendant could be granted bail only in the cases involving defamation of character. She set the bail at N2 million for each of the two matters, with two sureties required. The sureties must reside within the jurisdiction and present evidence of tax clearance for three years.

The matters were adjourned to September 15 and 16, 2025, for further hearing. Until then, Unadinma will remain in custody.
