President Bola Tinubu has addressed the business communities and ministers at Palácio do Planalto, the capital of Brazil, during his two-day visit to the South American country.
According to Tinubu's Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the president's address followed a series of Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries on Monday, August 25.

Tinubu speaks on the Nigeria-Brazil relationship
In his address, President Tinubu expressed regret that Nigeria and Brazil should have been doing what he had come to do long before now. The president then commended the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Earlier in the day, the Nigerian president was accorded full military honours at the Planalto Palace in Brasília. The elaborate ceremony featured Brazil’s military contingent as part of the official welcome.
Tinubu’s arrival was hosted by Brazilian President Lula, marking the start of a high-level engagement between the two countries.
Presidential aide confirms reception
Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the ceremony in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:
“More photos of the official reception for President Tinubu at the Planalto Palace in Brasília, Monday, August 25, 2025. Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva welcomed President Bola Tinubu with full military honours.”

Tinubu travels from Japan to Brazil
Before visiting Brazil, the president had earlier attended the "9th Tokyo International Conference for African Development." Following the conference, the Japanese government disclosed that Nigerians who want to visit the country will soon be granted a special visa.
As part of the event sideline, the Japanese authority also named "the city of Kisarazu as the hometown for Nigerians willing to live and work in the country." The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the director of information at the state house.
“Fix hardship”: Okonjo-Iweala tells Tinubu
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the director general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Thursday, held a crucial meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
In a twist, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who commended Tinubu's government for stabilising the economy, urged the president to fix hardship and grow the economy.
