Just In: Jubilation as 25 ISWAP/JAS Terrorists Surrender to Nigerian Army in Borno

Bama, Borno state - At least 25 members of Islamic State West Africa Province ISWAP and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad have surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army, in Bama, Borno State.

The terrorists, who belong to the faction of Boko Haram, surrended to the troops of 202 Battalion on Monday, August 11, 2025.

The troops also arrested 17 criminal suspects, and recovered assorted weapons and equipment in recent coordinated operations across the country.

As reported by The Nation, a military source said the 25 ISWAP/JAS family members comprising of 12 adult females and 13 children.

“On 11 August 2025, troops of 202 Battalion in Bama Local Government, Borno State, received 25 ISWAP/JAS family members, comprising 12 adult females and 13 children, who surrendered from Zalmari, Gazuwa, and Alafa villages.
“The surrendered persons are undergoing further profiling by 21 Special Armoured Brigade.”

The source further stated that troops of 233 Battalion in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force killed one terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle.

The terrorist was killed during an ambush conducted along Sassawa–Kaburu in Damaturu Local Government of Yobe state.

The troops of 1 Brigade Combat Team 5 killed a terrorist and seized a mobile phone after repelling a planned terrorist attack on Forward Operating Base (FOB) Galadi in Shinkafi local government area in Zamfara state.

According to the military source, the troops arrested eight suspected kidnappers while acting on intelligence on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

The rescue operation took place after the troops stormed Gremasa Mountain in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The source said the Nigerian Army troops also recorded a significant feat by troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE Sector 3 Forward Operating Base Wukari, Taraba State, which apprehended two suspected kidnap collaborators.

Nigerian military rehabilitates 800 ex-Boko Haram terrorists

Recall that the Defence Headquarters announced its one-year special plan for repentant Boko Haram terrorists.

DHQ explained that 800 out of 129,000 terrorists that surrendered to the Nigerian Military are undergoing deradicalisation.

The Chief of Defence Training and Operations, Emeka Onumajuru, made this revelation in an interview on Monday and shared further details.

Repentant terrorists undergoing rehabilitation
