NSCDC Officer's Death: Suspect Dies After Falling Off Moving Vehicle While Trying to Escape Arrest

Jigawa state - The prime suspect in the killing of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, Bashir Adamu-Jibril, in Jigawa state, has reportedly lost his life after he fell off a moving vehicle.

The NSCDC command spokesman, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, stated that the suspect is a 45-year-old man.

The suspected hoodlums killed the NSCDC officer at Shuwarin market in the Shuwarin District of Kiyawa Local Government of the state while on official duty.

As reported by Vanguard, the deceased, a Superintendent of the Corps (SC), worked in the Department of Intelligence and Investigation within the command at the time of his death.

The hoodlums, suspected to be butchers, allegedly macheted the deceased, ripping open the back of his head.

The NSCDC spokesperson said the suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 7, 2025, following credible information about his alleged involvement in the late officer’s death.

“However, while transporting him to the command headquarters at high speed, the suspect miraculously freed himself from the handcuffs and jumped out of the moving vehicle in an attempt to escape.
“He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention, where the suspect was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.”

The spokesperson said the command will ensure justice for the late officer and to continue to work tirelessly in upholding law and order across the state.
