BREAKING: NAF Special Forces Rescue Seven Kidnapped Chinese Citizens

  • The Nigeria Airforce special forces have rescued some Chinese citizens from the den of kidnappers

In what will be described as a welcome development, Special Forces (SF) under the 271 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Detachment, Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state, have rescured some Chinese nationals.

The officers carried out the rescue operation in the early hours of December 17.

The Cable reports that the rescued Chinese victims were kidnapped in June by terrorists while working on a mining site in Ajata-Aboki, Gurmana Ward of Shiroro local government, Niger state.

The Combat Search and Rescue operation consisted of 35 Special Forces.

Also, the operation was conducted in the cover of night at Kanfani Doka and Gwaska general Areas, Daily Trust added.

This reportedly led to the terrorists abandoning their enclaves, weapons.

The Air force in a statement said.

"After the successful operations, the 7 Chinese victims were flown to the 271 NAF Detachment Medical Centre for evaluation were 2 of the victims were stabilized. Subsequently, the 7 victims were flown to the NAF Base Medical Hospital, Kaduna for further medical investigations."

Meanwhile, the Centre for African Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights (CALSER) says Nigerian Armed Forces have demonstrated preparedness and zeal towards a credible, transparent and violence-free elections in 2023.

The stakeholders noted that the apolitical stance of the military is reassuring and enough reason for Nigerians to celebrate the protection and perseveration of their nascent democracy.

Recall that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, recently declared that the Nigerian military is gradually winning the war against terrorism.

According to Air Marshal Amao, the magnanimity of President Muhammadu Buhari in providing the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) with new and modern platforms has been instrumental to the level of successes been recorded against terrorists and insurgents.

He also noted that NAF's ability to effectively operationalize their usage in the battlefield has been a determining factor in the successes recorded.
