Senator Adeola Pays Tribute to Late Ogogo, Shares How He Supported Actor During Ailment

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayai, has released a heartfelt tribute to the late Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, following his death after a prolonged battle with stage four cancer.

The Ogun West senator shared the tribute on his Instagram page on Monday, 25 August 2026, confirming for the first time that he had been actively involved in financing and coordinating the actor's medical care during his illness.

Senator Adeola speaks on supporting Ogogo's treatment

In his tribute, the senator described Ogogo as far more than a celebrity from his state. He called the actor "a dear brother and a proud son of Ilaro in Ogun State," and said the news of his death was especially painful given the hope and prayers that had surrounded his treatment.

"During those difficult moments, we stood closely with him and his family, supporting his treatment and doing everything humanly possible to ensure that he received the necessary medical care," the senator wrote.

He added that despite all the efforts and prayers, it ultimately pleased God to call the actor home, before asking for the forgiveness of Ogogo's shortcomings and praying that Allah grants him "Al-Jannah Firdaus."

The senator also extended condolences to Ogogo's wife, children, and the broader Yewaland community in Ogun State, as well as his colleagues across the Nigerian film industry.
