The Nigerian movie industry is still reeling from the loss of veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Kanran, who passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, just weeks after marking his 70th birthday.
As fans mourn his passing, his last-ever interview has resurfaced online, giving a glimpse into the personal pain the actor carried until his final days.
In May 2025, during an appearance on Behind The Fame, Chief Kanran opened up about what he described as the most tragic moment of his life.

The thespian revealed that he once lost both of his wives on the same day. One died in the morning after battling cancer, while the other passed away at night after an attack in a different location.

He recalled:
“There was a tragic incident that happened to me that always made me sad. I used to have two wives, but both of them died suddenly on the same day. One died in the morning, and the second one died in the night. One from cancer, the other from an attack. They lived in different places.”

The late actor emphasised the need to promote Nigerian culture and attires after some of his colleagues attended the event in English outfits.

Femi Adebayo mourns Chief Kanran
Legit.ng earlier reported that actor Femi Adebayo Salami has reacted to the death of Chief Kanran.
Femi, who is the brain behind the hit movie Seven Doors, disclosed that he was still struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing of Chief Kanran.
Sharing pictures of the late Chief Kanran on his movie sets, Femi Adebayo wrote in a caption, "Still struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing of Chief Segun Kehinde AkinRemi @chiefkanran"
