“Please Forgive Me”: Actor Ijebu Suddenly Begs for Forgiveness After Ogogo’s Death

Nollywood actor Amokade Olatayo, widely known as Ijebu, has made a heartfelt public plea for forgiveness, moved to reflect on life and mortality in the wake of a colleague's passing.

Ijebu took to Instagram on Monday morning, August 24, 2026, to share an emotional video addressed to everyone he may have wronged, inside and outside the Nigerian film industry.

The appeal came just hours after news broke that veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 following a battle with stage-four cancer.

Ogogo's death sent shockwaves through Nollywood, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from actors and fans across the industry. For Ijebu, the loss appeared to strike a deeply personal chord.

Actor Ijebu opens up on forgiveness and the weight of life

In the video, Ijebu said he had been awake since 6 a.m. and could not shake the heaviness in his chest.

He addressed his message to family members, fellow actors, industry bosses, younger colleagues, and anyone beyond the entertainment world.

"Good morning, everyone. My heart is so heavy this morning. I have been awake since 6 a.m. My heart is so heavy," he said.
"I would like to come out straight and say this to all my family, to everyone, also in the movie industry and outside the industry. If there's anyone that I have offended in one way or the other, please forgive me."

Acor Ijebu continued, directing the appeal specifically towards his superiors, employees, and peers:

"My boss, my workers, the younger ones behind me and my colleagues in the movie industry, I want to use this medium to beg you all for forgiveness. I'm a sinner; please forgive me."

"We Came to This World With Nothing"

Ijebu made it clear that his motivation was not only personal relief, but a desire to mend bridges before it is too late, and to extend grace in return.

"I'm making this video to make peace with everyone in order to reduce the burden on my heart. And I'm also here to tell everyone who has offended me that I have forgiven you," he said.

The Yoruba actor rounded off with a sobering meditation on human existence:

"We came to this world with nothing, and we will leave with nothing. We don't have any reason to be fighting ourselves. Life is too short."

The video drew wide attention online, coming at a time when the entire Nollywood community was still processing the grief of losing Ogogo, one of its most beloved veterans.
