Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid has caught himself in a new controversy following a recent concert he headlined.

Legit.ng reports that the Afrobeats star graced the CANEX 2025 Mega Concert in Algeria on September 5, 2025, and had a surprise appearance at the Vybz Kartel concert at the O2 Arena in London on September 5, 2025.

In a video that has gone viral, the singer was seen pausing during mid-performance to splash a bottle of water on funseekers who vibed to his performance.

While some fans interpreted the gesture as a playful interaction or a way to cool down the crowd, others took a more sceptical view, accusing the singer of engaging in spiritual or ritualistic behaviour.

"This is spiritual... All these artists hide alot and most things they do on stage have spiritual implications," Wisdom TV wrote.
"That water na very dangerous, evil water," Albert wrote.

This isn't the artist's first time gaining public attention for his theatrical antics. Wizkid is known for his mysterious demeanour and larger-than-life performances, which frequently skirt the boundary between performance art and personal expression.

Legit.ng previously reported that a video surfaced online showing the moment Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, kicked a fan’s phone during a live performance.

The incident, which has generated buzz across social media, occurred while the Grammy-winning artist was delivering one of his trademark calm performances on an elevated stage.

In the clip, Wizkid was seen engaging the audience as fans cheered him on. However, an unexpected moment occurred when a fan in the front row held up a phone and pointed the screen directly toward the singer, seemingly trying to show him something.

Though the fan's intention remains unclear, the gesture appeared to irritate Wizkid.

Without stopping his performance or saying a word, Wizkid reacted by lifting his leg and kicking the phone out of the fan’s hand.

After this, Wizkid continued as though nothing had happened, but subsequently exited the spot.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck disclosed that Wizkid gifted him $20,000, despite not recording a verse for him.

When fans reacted, one even asked for money, but Odumodublvck clarified Wizkid was the generous one, not him.
