Nigerian music executive Soso Soberekon, who is a close associate of singer Davido, has caused a stir with his monetary gift to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

Soso sent a generous gift of N100,000 for the First Lady's birthday. As proof, the music executive also shared a screenshot of the debit details showing the account to which he sent the money.

He also added a caption

"Happy birthday to our 1st lady."

Soso Soberekon's action comes after the First Lady had urged well-wishers who planned to gift her birthday packages and send congratulatory messages via newspapers to instead send money into a dedicated account to fund a National Library project.

In her words, “By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on the 21st of September 2025, and this happens to be a Sunday. This is why I have decided to dedicate the day to God for all His blessings in my life and have a quiet birthday."

While she added that her decision was informed by her love for education, her action stirred mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Soso Soberekon rains dollars on Iyabo Ojo
