Veekee James Opens Up on Painful Rumour That Nearly Broke Her: “I Cried For Two Days”

Celebrity stylist and fashion entrepreneur, Veekee James, has opened up about one of the darkest moments in her life

In a conversation on The Nancy Isime Show, Veekee appeared alongside her husband, Femi Atere, to discuss their marriage, fame, and the backlash that came with being in the public eye.

The designer recalled how false stories began circulating online shortly after she got married, including claims that she had snatched her husband from a friend.

Veekee stated:

“I think it was a story about how I was stolen from a friend and we were sleeping with each other. So many of them were lies"

“I cried for two days straight” - Veekee James

Veekee admitted that the rumour shook her to her core and almost dragged her into depression. She described the emotional toll it had on her, confessing that she locked herself in her room for two days, crying and praying for strength.

She recounted:

“It almost put me in depression. That was the first time I understood what people who say they are depressed feel. I was scared this would ruin my brand"

She revealed that her faith in God helped her push through, as she prayed for clarity and strength to withstand the pressure.

Speaking further, Veekee shared her unique way of dealing with controversies. Unlike many celebrities who avoid online comments, she deliberately reads them to reflect on her actions.

She explained:

“Most times my brother would say, don’t read the comments. But I have to. I go through them to see if I’m doing too much or if I need to learn. I ask God to guide me"

Despite the negativity, Veekee said she eventually learned to laugh at false stories and no longer lets them get to her.

The stylist also spoke glowingly about her husband, Femi, explaining that she had sought divine confirmation before saying “yes” to marriage.

She stated:

“When I met Femi, I knew he was the one. I asked God to confirm, and when He did, my ears were blocked forever"

Looking ahead, Veekee disclosed that she plans to raise her future children in the public eye, noting that she wants them to grow up as visible role models.
