In an interview with UK media personality Zeze Mills, the Afrobeats queen revisited the events of 2021, when she lost her father and, just days later, faced the public release of her private s*x tape.
She recalled:
“It all happened at once. My dad died and my s3x tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it.”

The “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker explained that she made a conscious choice to protect her mental health by not obsessing over the events.
She said focusing on her career and the love from her fans helped her push through the grief and shame.
Years later, Tiwa says she’s thankful that the world still wants to hear from her. Sitting on Zeze Mills’ interview couch, she described it as a blessing to still have a voice despite the scandal that could have ended her career.
She stated:
“Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, people want to hear what I want to say after how many years… it feels good"
