48-Year-Old Actress Chioma Toplis Remanded in Abia State Prison Over Defamation of Prominent Chief

Following her Facebook post about the chairman of Abia State Traditional Prime Ministers Council, High Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu, actress Chioma Toplis has been remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Afara, Abia state.

The 48-year-old was accused of alleged cybercrime by using her Facebook page to post “a malicious publication” against Akwukwuegbu, popularly known as BAWAS.

According to the charge sheet marked 124c/2022, the actress was accused of using her Facebook page to tag Akwukwuegbu as “a rap*ist and a ritualist”.

Speaking with newsmen later, the plaintiff, Chief Akwukwuegbu, who identified the accused as his sister-in-law, expressed his worry on why she resorted to blackmail him.

BAWAS lamented over the fact that the accused resorted to cheap blackmail to disrepute him.

He also expressed no knowledge of all the allegations levelled against him and insisted that Toplis has to substantiate her claims.

The matter has been adjourned till April 14, 2022.

Court orders Jaruma’s rearrest

In other news, after jubilations and bragging online, popular kayanmata seller, Jaruma chilled in a correctional facility in Abuja for some days.

She was released on bail in January after she spent about 4 days in prison for several allegations, one of which is defamation levelled against her by actress Regina Daniels husband, Ned Nwoko.

The rearrest stemmed from the fact that a high court in Abuja reportedly ordered that Jaruma be rearrested and remanded till March 17, which is the new adjournment date for the next sitting by the court on the case.

According to reports, neither she nor her lawyer showed up in court when they were expected, and there was no representation to stand in for either of them.

Regina Daniels breaks silence after Jaruma’s arrest

Nigerian actress, Regina Daniels, finally opened up on what went wrong between her and Jaruma after the kayanmata seller was arrested.

Taking to Instagram, Regina penned down a lengthy note where she said her fans needed an explanation and to hear her side of things.

According to the actress, she delivered on her job agreement with Jaruma based on their discussions, which was for the businesswoman to send content and for her to post on her page.

She exposed how the kayanmata seller wanted her to make a post saying her husband bought her Jaruma chocolates.

Regina also added that Jaruma wanted to present her with a cow gift on social media then she would later return it behind the camera.
