On Tuesday, January 25, jurors added a N622 million fine in punitive damages.

The blogger was also ordered to repay the mother of two N539 million legal fees, bringing the total pay-out to over N1.9 billion.

Ruined reputation

Cardi had sought legal redress in 2019 over dozens of videos containing shocking claims about her.

Tasha claimed that the star used to sell herself for money, had cheated on her husband, and contracted an STI.

While taking to the stands during the trial, which kicked off on January 10, Cardi said the videos made her feel suicidal, adding that only an evil person could do what the blogger did to her.

Tasha’s attorney said that they would challenge the verdict.

“We disagree with the verdict and we will be filing an appeal,” they said.

Cardi described feeling happy with the verdict, adding that:

“The intentional harm that was done to me is done to countless others every day. The only difference between me and the high schooler who is being cyberbullied and lied to by their classmates is the money and resources I have access to. So we collectively have to say enough is enough.”
