BildUp AI: Nigeria Leads the Way With Africa’s First Indigenous AI Tutor
A Nigerian tech startup, BildUp AI, has announced the launch of its ‘AI in Every Classroom’ initiative to enhance learning in Nigerian and ultimately African schools.
With a bold commitment of N500 million over the next 12 months, Bildup AI is set to deploy cutting-edge AI-driven learning tools in schools, starting with the historic adoption at Adorable British College in Enugu.
As part of this milestone, Bildup AI donated tablets to support the school’s technology infrastructure, ensuring students and teachers have seamless access to personalised learning experiences.

Bildup AI’s CEO, Chibuike Aguene, also shared his vision for the initiative. He explained his belief in Nigerian young minds shaping the future, as AI gives them the opportunity to provide equal access to quality education. In his words:
“We believe Nigeria’s young minds have the potential to shape the future with groundbreaking innovations. AI gives us the opportunity to remove barriers and provide every child with equal access to quality education. To support this vision, we are committing ₦500 million over the next 12 months to help schools across the country integrate AI-powered learning.”
Unlike traditional one-size-fits-all approaches, Bildup AI offers personalised learning tailored to each student’s pace, strengths, and weaknesses. This adaptive technology acts as a virtual tutor, available anytime and anywhere, ensuring no child is left behind in the digital age.
Bildup AI won’t replace teachers - CEO speaks
Addressing concerns about AI replacing teachers, Aguene emphasised:
“Bildup AI will not replace teachers, it will empower them. Teachers will reclaim up to 80% of their time, enabling them to focus on mentorship, critical thinking, and deeper engagement with students.”
The platform also strengthens the vital connection between home and school by providing parents with real-time progress reports and personalised recommendations. This continuous insight allows families to actively support their children’s learning journey, making education a collaborative effort.
In addition to providing every child with equal access to quality education, improving parents’ participation in their children’s learning journey and enabling teachers to engage on a deeper level with their students, BildUp AI also addresses the continent’s unique educational challenges by providing globally relevant localised content. The initiative aims to reach 1 million students in Nigeria within 12 months and expand to 10 million students across Africa within five years, setting a new global standard for AI-powered education.

Schools adopting Bildup AI gain access to advanced data insights, enabling strategic resource allocation and curriculum improvements based on evidence. Students benefit from individualised instruction beyond the classroom walls, while teachers enhance their impact through intelligent feedback and support.
This launch marks a defining moment not only for Bildup AI and Adorable British College Enugu but for the future of education in Nigeria and Africa. As Aguene puts it:
“Today, we witness Africa’s first indigenous AI personal tutor being implemented in a Nigerian classroom. Nigeria can lead technological innovation that directly addresses our unique educational challenges.”
