According to Deji Macaulay, managing director of Cubecover, the strategic alliance with Globacom would alleviate common concerns about phone use, accidental damage, and repairs.

“The Device Protection service, which is an industry first in Nigeria, will provide both new and existing Glo subscribers with protection for their mobile devices against screen and water damage for a small premium, while they receive up to N50,000 worth of screen repairs or replacements when damage occurs,” the statement said.

Customers can ensure that their device is protected against screen or water damage at any time for as little as N50 per day, according to Mojeed Aluko, the company's Head of Value Added Services (VAS).

He listed additional subscription options, such as an N300 plan for customers who prefer paying the premium on a weekly basis and an N600 plan for those who prefer paying on a monthly basis.

“With this affordable micro-protection, subscribers will receive up to N50,000 worth of screen repair free when damage occurs,” Aluko added. He explained that the customer must have their membership activated for a month before the device protection begins.
He said, “As a responsive and innovative network, we are leveraging this opportunity to provide meaningful protection to our customers, helping them stay connected even in the event of accidental damage.”

Interested customers can enroll by USSD, selecting a daily, weekly, or monthly membership package, Daily Trust reported.

“The customer pays the device protection subscription through deductions from their Glo airtime, and they can opt for either a one-time subscription or auto-renewal,” Aluko said.

After successful payment, the subscriber will receive a link to test the integrity of their device's screen. Once the screen passes the diagnostic check, the device’s IMEI will be registered with Cubecover.

Meanwhile, Globacom recently implemented a new data tariff plan as approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission. The new pricing structure obtained from its website affected popular monthly and daily plans.

In January 2025, Legit.ng reported that the NCC gave the green light for telecom companies in Nigeria to raise their tariffs by 50%.

These companies had first asked for a 100% increase, saying that their costs had gone up due to things like inflation, unstable foreign exchange rates, and higher operating expenses.
